Building a better blog and having fun doing it!!!

I decided to write a post on a few topics for the Edublogger’s First Birthday!

When a person clicks on a link to your page or types it into a sidebar, they don’t want to see a plain white page full of non-stop, brain numbing words. No bland font or sleep-inducing posts.

Naturally, people gravitate towards a colorful, creative and well-managed blog. Simple things such as adding pictures to a post or creating a custom header like I did, are easy ways to make a blog noticed. Even adding a nice heading to your blog can capture the eyes of viewers.

“Don’t go for the trends in attept to stand out. Strive for difference and test your imagination.”

Attracting the eye of a person to come to your blog is tricky. You don’t know whose mind your filling with information. You don’t know what they like or dislike. But you do know what you, yourself, likes. Write about something that entertains you, or captures your eye. If you don;t like what you write than what makes you think other people will? And don’t go for the Plain Jane posts, no one wants to hear “my cat did the coolest thing” or “I saw my grandma last weekend”. If it amazes you than it’ll amaze other people.

Add riddles or jokes, it’ll make your audience remeber you and think about you. They’ll want to come back and see the answer or another joke.

Great advice Ashley about writing better blog posts. You are so correct. Always focus on writing about topics that interest you not worrying about what interests others. But enjoying what you write you will bring people along with you.

Thanks for taking the time to enter The Edublogger’s Birthday Celebration Competition!

I really like the honesty of your advice. It is easy to get trapped into writing for others. Sounds alright for a while but in the end what are we trying to achieve? Surely blogging is about developing your own voice. I’m always looking forward to reading honest, reflective and thoughtful posts! Thanks for yours!
